Our partnership with Ecole Française to assist in the cultural education of students continued this month.
On the 31st March, we welcomed the students back for their third visit, this time to learn about shoe making and upcycling - taking an old item and giving it new life. The students were invited to bring an old pair of shoes with them, and with the help of our artisans, were taught how to cover them with Kitenge fabric.
The results were fantastic, and the shoes the students produced looked amazing.
The following week it was time for our artisans to visit Ecole Française, to work with kindergarten students who were a little too young to come to us. Priscilla, Jan and Janine from our jewelry making department, along with Winnie from our administrative team, filled baskets with beads and fishing line and took them to the school to teach the students how to make necklaces.
Despite their young age, the students were incredibly excited to learn and produced gorgeous necklaces. Their excitement and enthusiasm was contagious and our team reported having had a thoroughly enjoyable day.
